From July 7 to 10, 2024, RocRock Bio and Shandong First Medical University visited Armenia, a Belt and Road country, focusing on Mediterranean fever prevention and treatment, reaching rare disease project cooperation intentions. The goal was to introduce China's advanced medical technology to Armenia through the Belt and Road policy, enhancing local healthcare.
Participants included RocRock Bio's founder, CEO, and Shandong First Medical University guest professor Xiushan Yin, and National Health Commission Key Laboratory of Bio-technology Drugs Director and Shandong First Medical University professor Jinxiang Han. They were warmly received by Armenian officials and institutions, including Health Minister Avanessyan and Deputy Health Minister Nanushyan.

On July 8, Ashot Saghyan, president of Armenia's National Academy of Sciences (the country's top research body), presented a national gold medal to Dr. Xiushan Yin. This Prof honored. Yin's major contributions to Armenia's healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic. The award both recognized his personal achievements and symbolized the successful China-Armenia cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. It showed the new height of bilateral biomedicine cooperation and the Belt Road and strategy's concrete application in healthcare, emphasizing its key role in spurring international tech cooperation and boosting global public health. The ceremony was also a major event for the academy's 80th anniversary, underlining the award's importance.

While visiting the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Dr. Xiushan Yin presented an academic lecture named "Diagnosis and Treatment: From Plague to Cancer". He thoroughly explored the evolution of cell therapy, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), a locally prevalent rare disease in Armenia. Additionally, he discussed the application of CAR-T cell therapy within the country and collaborative opportunities. The auditorium was packed, and the researchers in attendance found the session highly beneficial, leaving them with enhanced confidence in their future efforts to combat rare diseases.

Following the award ceremony, academic dialogues and a dean's symposium were held among the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, the Armenian Institute of Molecular Biology, the Armenian Institute of Bioinformatics, RocRock Bio, and Shandong First Medical University. The Armenian representatives praised Dr. Xiushan Yin's substantial contributions to Armenia and expressed their awe at the swift progress of China's biopharmaceutical technology. It is hoped that in the future, both sides will carry out more exchanges and cooperation in the medical field, continuously injecting new impetus into the bilateral relations of jointly building the "Belt and Road Initiative" between China and Central Asia. The embassy is willing to play an active role and constantly promote the medical and health cooperation between the two countries to reach new heights and achieve new accomplishments.
In the afternoon, Dr. Xiushan Yin, Professor Jinxiang Han and the team visited the Institute of Molecular Biology of Armenia. They had an in-depth discussion on the screening and prevention of Mediterranean fever, and reached a consensus. Following the visit, Professor Jinxiang Han from Shandong First Medical University and Dr. Arsen, the director of the Institute of Molecular Biology of Armenia, signed a joint school agreement. This agreement facilitates academic exchanges for exchange students and enhances the scientific research level of both countries in the field of health.

During a dinner with Armenian Health Minister Avanesyan, Deputy Minister Nanushyan, Dr. Arsen, and Director Lilit from the Institute of Molecular Biology of Armenia, they discussed bio-medical cooperation along the "the Belt and Road".
Dr. Yin announced RocRock Bio's plan to bring in top European cell therapy and rare disease detection technologies, aiming to help diagnose and cure rare diseases in Armenia and improve public health. In response to concerns about treatment costs, Dr. Yin assured the introduction of cost - effective technologies.
The Armenian Health Minister commended Dr. Yin's proposals, praising China's swift progress and strong execution in healthcare. She expressed gratitude for Dr. Yin's contributions and stated that the Armenian government would strongly support the project, simplifying processes and mobilizing resources to ensure its success for the benefit of the people.
